More kitchens are needed in Chicago, not to feed tne masses, but in which to educate the classes of girls who lu a few ears will be the housewives of tho city. At the meeting of the buildings build-ings and grounds committee of the board of education today, Mrs. Ella liagg Young, superintendent of schools, ' will ask the committee to lecommend to the board that kitchens kitch-ens be Installed In tho schools where household arts are to be taught There are approximately 250 of these schools, and about 75 kitchens i rlready are equipped This means ! about 175 new ones, and when they ore built gymnasiums probably will I le installed at the same time, at an average cost for both kitchen and gxmnasluni of n trifle more than I $1,000. j Mrs, Young had a conference jes terday with the chairman of the buildings and grounds committee, and j it was agreed to send a eommuntca- I tion on the subject to the committee, commit-tee, and It was agreed to send a communication com-munication on the subject to the committee today.
