Show BOYS HELD ON FORGERY . CHARGE Chester Stephenson am! William Roylance, two young men of Rex-burg, Rex-burg, Idaho, were arrested this morning morn-ing by E.tectlve Pender and Captain I',rown under suspicion of having committed com-mitted forgery. The boys are only about IS years if age and they said, after being arreted, ar-reted, that they were nere visiting friends. This morning the boys ap-I ap-I oared at Hie Kuhn clothing store to pjrehase clothes and they offered in payment a check drawn on the Klrst National bank In the name of J. F. Mattson, in favor of Chester Stephen-ion, Stephen-ion, for $30, and eudorsed by Stephen ton on the back of the check. Fefore cashing the instrument, the clothiers called on Mr Mutt son and Inquired of him as to the genuineness cf the check. Mattson sia'.cd that he knew nothing of it and t'at he had r.ct issued it. The officers were notified no-tified anil the boys were fcoou placed r.nc'cr arrest. The officers state that the hoys have virtually confessed to the forgery, but they say they did not think there was nv harm in it. When seen by a reporter of this paper, young Roylance stated that he wrote the check for Chest?T, but that he had no idea that he was to try to cash it. The officers contend that it is a dear case of deliberate forgery and that tho boys went to a merchant of i he city to get a blank cluck for that purpose |
