Show JAPANESE ADMIRAL BANQUETS OFFICERS San Francisco, May 9. Rear Admiral Admir-al IJlchl, commander of the Japanese training squadron, banquetted tho representatives rep-resentatives of the United States army and navy aboard his flagship tonight, the last function before sailing of the squadron for the north tomorrow morning. The admiral expressed tho belief that the friendship of his counr try and the United States Is so firmly fixed that it cannot be changed by any trifling questions, and thanked the Anieiicans, especially those of San Francisco, for the entertainment accorded ac-corded himself and his men during their stay. In the afternoon the ships were thronged with Japanese residents of the city and its suburbs, the officers tendering their countrymen ashore a reception. The launches were busy for several hours conveying the visitors vis-itors to and from the shore. |
