Cal., May 9 The re covery of an ancient lute, valued at $500, from a pawnshop, wrhcre It had been sold for $1, was the clue that led to the arrest of Thomas J. liowen, a machinist, who was locked up today, charged with having stolen $1,200 worth of theatrical costumes and property prop-erty from the Ben Greet Theatrical company, and also with having entered the private car of E. L. Doheny, the oil operator, and taking silverware valued at $300. Bowen had Just completed, a ten-day term for vagrancy and was about to bo released this morning when the detectives obtained the information in-formation that resulted In his arrest. |
