Show uu FATHER IS ACQUITTED. ALLIANCE, Neb., May 8. A jury in tho district court today acquitted Lawrence Lackey1 of the murder of his seven-year-old daughter, Pauline. The jury was out five hours. Lackey, a trusted employe of the Burlington railroad company here, was arrested last December, charged with giving his daughter candy into which, it is alleged, ho had injected poison. Tho child died in convulsions two hours after having eaten the candy. Testimony against the accused was given by his brother, his divorced wife and other relatives. Their recitals to the court were flatly contradicted by Lackey himself, and other witnesses. Lackey was congratulated by those in the courtroom following the verdict. |
