Show ' WOULD BF A CALAMITY. ' ' are seeking more information on the proposed irriga tion districts embracing all of Weber county, and small strips of land in Davis and Box Elder counties. There are so many problems to be solved in an old irrigation sys- tern such as covers this region that the owners of laud fear the details de-tails have not been worked out with careful regard for the many conflicting con-flicting interests involved. The most expert men in the employ of the government, including includ-ing Samuel Fortier, chief of the irrigation division of the department depart-ment of agriculture, have been ':ngaged on the work, and it is fair to presume they have gone into every phase of the undertaking The thing that is lacking is publicity and the failure to cover that feature is due to delay in providing means to print a voluminous report re-port now ready for the printer, 1500 copies of which are to be distributed dis-tributed among the land owners and water users of this county. 1 Ogden city has been callel on to appropriate the funds, and the one obstacle so far is the legal right of a municipality to spend monej' , for other than municipal puqioses.- Ii It would be a calamity for the farmers to fail to go ahead with the irrigation projects as outlined. All their rights will be adjudicated adjudi-cated on an equitable basis, and, for any injustice which may arise out of a multiplicity of complex problems, a way, no doubt, will be provided to correct the wrong. |
