Show SULLIVAN TALKS AT ROW ELI Explains Ideals Behind Juvenile Juve-nile Court and of Work Done Here At the weekly luncheon of tho Rotarians held today at the "Weber club the principal speaker was Dan B. Sullivan. Judge of the juvenvilo court of this city. He briefly stated what wero the Ideals behind tho Juvenile Ju-venile court movement in tho United States and how well those ideals were being brought into full play in Op-den, Op-den, not only by officers of the local court, but by subsidiary agencies in the city. Chief.' among these he named the Rotarians, by reason of their sustained Interost in tho Roy Scout and Big Brother movements, and tho local Children's Society, "a society which docs not scream from tho housetops oncoming what it has done and is doing, but which ev,ery day in the year is quietly working to safeguard the lives of little children from disaster and to upbuild broken homes." He said: "By far the largest percentage of caseB of delinquency coming into our court are due to broken homes, and of these by far the largest percentage per-centage are homes that have been broken by the divorce of the parents. We believe prevention to be better than cures and noticing how often tho spirit of mischief is the prime cause in entailing youngsters into trouble we are thankful for all such prganlzatlona as the Boy Scouts which directs the energetic activity and love of fund into proper channels." |
