Prest, noted flyer, and one of j t he best known trick flyers that ever (took lo the air, vIH open an air school for both men and women at the Utah Hot Springs flying field, according to word given out by tho flyer today, Prest has been in Ogden for more I ban a week making plans for the coming com-ing summer and announced his intention inten-tion of plncing Ogdon to the fore, not Pidy in the flying art, but by giving the fans of the air a school 3econd to none in tho western country. Smallest Plane. Prest will return to Los Angeles within the next ten days and return with three planes. Two of the planes will be used for school work and for passenger service nnd other stunts while the third plane will bo used en-tlrely en-tlrely for stunt flying. The stunt plane, known all over the west coast as "Poi-ison" "Poi-ison" is the smallest plane in the I world. j "Poison" weigh shut -150 pounds, has a wing spread of but IS feet and an overall length of 11 t. feet. The mn-1 mn-1 chine is equipped with a Rotary motor of 50 horsepower and is capable of 'doing 100 miles an hour. It nas a low speed of 45 miles an hour. It takes' to tho air, after leaving the ground j , with a runway of less than 100 feet jand climbs at the rate of 1400 feet a I minute. Articles on the midget plane have appeared in all of the leading aero publications. Those who crave tho leading sport of America r.nd those who crave to walk on the wings of planes,-to do stunts that would thrill the movie kings will have a chance to learn all' the tricks at the new Prest air school. An Ogden Ruth Law? And, to make matters real romantic Prest is offering a special otfer to tho first lady student to enroll in the school. American women have made wonderful records in the air. Take Ruth Law for Instance, she is perhaps America's greatest woman flyer, and who knows perhaps Ogden has some unknown who may make Ruth look to her laurels. The school will be located at the Utah Hot Springs and will open doors within the next Ihrec weeks lo the seekers of fame in the clouds. Two 170 horsepower planes will be used for passenger and school work and n capable ca-pable aviator will be engaged to- assist as-sist Prest in the work. Both planes are of the three passenger variety and are equipped with Sturtevant motors. Two courses will be offered. The first, ! a complete course will consist of 50 lessons. The second course will be of ten lessons, with the students naming the courses desired. Thrills have been dished out by the 'daredevils of the air but Nome Dynau, vho Is here with Prest, is said lo be in a class by himself when it comes to stunts. Dynau spent several years in the movies but this summer tho daredevil will thrill Ogdenites. He is a wing wafkor. This phase of the air gpmc is one of thf most dangerous and is easily accomplished by Dynau. He hangs from the landing gear by his knees while waving his hands at tho crowds many thousands of feet below. I He also has a number of other stunts. |
