Show I CHICAGO GRAIN CHICAGO, April 7. Decided upturns up-turns in the value of corn took place today, influenced apparently more by scarcity of offerings than by any display dis-play of purchasing power. Most of the demand came from shorts. The spreading of the rail strike, however.1 tended somewhnt to encourage bullish sentiment. Opening prices, which varied va-ried from the same ns yesterday's finish: fin-ish: to lc higher, with May $162iA to 1.63 and July 1.57 to 1.57, were' followed by a slight sag and then by material gains all around. Oats like corn reflected the difficulties diffi-culties of the traffic situation and the consequent meagerness of receipts. After Af-ter opening c off the ic up, including includ-ing July at 82?i to Sic, the market scored a moderate general advance. Provisions were dull and weak. Pending settlement of the railroad strike, most packers here have suspended sus-pended slaughtering. H OGDEN LIVESTOCK MARKET.
