Show Conference Brought To Close; Officials of Church Sustained SALT LA.KE, April 7. At the concluding con-cluding session of the general conference confer-ence of the Latter-day Saint church held in the tabernacle yesterday afternoon after-noon the general authorities of thy church were sustained by unanimous vote by the vaat congregation, present. pres-ent. Following is a list of the church authorities: Heber J. Grant, president of the Church of Jesus 'Christ of Latter-day Saints. Anthon H. Lund, first counselor in the first presidency. I Charles W. Cannon, tub-crnnclo tub-crnnclo organists, with the choir members mem-bers as at present constituted. Endorses Thrift. President Heber J. Grant in his concluding con-cluding address yesterday afternoon endorsed the campaign of the United States government in the furtherance of thrift and against extravagance. Lie said the authorities of the church were in full accord with the government in its work. President Grant read a report from the church auditing committee, signed by W. W. Ritcr, John C. Cutler and Peter G. Johnson, which slated th?t the finances and records of the church were in excellent condition. The great auditorium was filled to capacity during the day with congregations congre-gations that were gathered from all parts of the rutermountain country, coming from Canada in the north aud Mexico in the south. Weather conditions condi-tions considered, the attendance at the three days' sessions of the conference has been remarkable. Many Speakers. Speakers at the conference sessions yesterday included President Rudger I Clawson, Joseph McMurrin of the California Cali-fornia mission, Presiding Patriarch Hyrum G. Smith, Samuel C. Bennlon, president of the Central states mis- -sion, ' Winslow F. Smith, president of Northern states mission, David A. Sin lilt and John Wells of Ihe presiding bishopric. Patriarch Harrison Speery and Charles H. Hart. Doctrinal subjects were discussed by the speakers who dwelt particularly particular-ly upon the subject or the first vision of the boy prophet, Joseph Smith. The special priesthood meeting of the church is being held today in 'the Assembly hall. "The Vision," Ihe musical composition composi-tion by Prof. Evan Stephens, which was rendered Monday night, is to be repeated at the Mutual conference in June, according to announcement. The receipts of Monday night's concert exceeded ex-ceeded those .ever obtained on the visit of any world renowned artist in the tabernacle. oo |
