I At last Ogden will have a first class athletic park. Plans started some time ago by tho live wires of Ogdeu have at , last matured and the work on the new i park will be started next week if I weather conditions will permit. Ogdeu i for a number of years has been with-1 , out a first class athletic park and with the grounds at Twenty-ninth and Mon-rofc Mon-rofc now alloted by the city for athletic ath-letic purposes, tho athletes of Ogden high and Weber Normal will no longer long-er want for a training field. If Old Sol will glitter forth for a few days this week the ground will be broken brok-en during the early part of the coming week, according to Mayor Frank Francis. Fran-cis. Both Weber Normal academy and, Ogden high school will declare holi-j days during the week and aid In put-j ting the field In A-l shape for athletic competition. i Mayor Francis will perform the duty! of shoveling the first spade of ground' from the new field. Other exercises' for the new field are being arranged i - and will be announced during the pros-1 ent week. I With, the city commissioners back1 of the move to give Ogden athletes a' first class athletic park the old parki at Glenwood will be a thing of tho past1 It will bo but a memory in the hearts othe many famous athletes who played on tho sod there. Many a cham-1 cham-1 plon game has been decided on tl Glenwood field and now that Ogden is' to have a first class park the grand stand now at Glenwood will be re- moved to the new field. The fence I nowit Glenwood park will also be re-1 j moved to tho new field. i New Running Track. j The new field when complete, will i ' have a cinder track of the regulation! 5-10-yard type with two curves and two I straightaways. This new feature will I bo welcomed by tho track and field stars of the high schools, as well as the old-timers and members of the Ogden A. A. I It is planned during the summer mopths to have the gridiron field for the football games sodded, thus giving Ogden one of two first class gridiron I fields In Utah. The baseball Hold will I bo one of the best in the state, and I will afford the players of the city a I first class round for tilts and also for j' practice, j I The matter of having dressing rooms and shower baths at the park will also I be discussed. If present arrange-!
