The shutdown in each ease was due to coal shortage. Strength in! sterling exchange tended, however, to J offset somewhat ihe bearish influence of the industrial situation. Opening 'prices, which ranged from 1 to lc lower with December $1 31 vt to 1.32 M;' and May 51 25 to 1 .25 were follow ed bv a moderate rally. Oats were weak with ' orn fter opening unchanged to c lower, in I eluding Maj at 75 to 75' to 7538C, the market rallied a trifle. Lower quotations on hogs pulled down provisions.
