Show G. L. BECKER PROVES TO BE CHAMPION SHOT OF UTAH G. L. Becker of Ogden, whose trap-shooting trap-shooting fame has extended from the coast to Chicago, and who Is known in lntermountain trap circles as perhaps the best srattergun man who pulls a trigger, won wide and enduring fame yesterday at Salt Lake during the last day of tho Utah state registered tournament tour-nament of trapshootlng when he won all of the trophies offered in his class. The weather was perfect for the shooters and a large crowd attended the match held on the Salt Lake Gun club grounds. Not only did the Ogdcn man, who had taken the chief honors on Tuesday, win the Browning handicap handi-cap trophy, but he also secured the W. P. Fowler trophy, shooting from tho 22-yard line, and the Utah state handicap. In the first event, which was for the Browning trophy, Mr. Becker retained his right to the trophy won last year, for this time he broke 49 out of 60 targets. His previous record for this handicap was 4S out of 50. When the second event developed for the W. P. Fowler handicap medal, Becker again took the honors, with 4n out of 50. The third event for this class was the Utah State handicap of 100 targets which Becker also won on a record score of 97 out of 100. During the day Mr. Becker also made the long run score, breaking 71 straight without a miss. All the shots for this and other events were made by Becker from a 22 -yard handicap. Counting all tho targets for ebe three days from distance, handicap and scratch, Becker won tho high average b a safe margin for tho entire shoe-!. Reilly had the high average score on all 166-yard targets for the three days. Sam Sharman was another who 1 hot In exceptional form. The professionals had a merry time all to themselves. For the first time In the history of the trap game they had to work. The new rule Is that the professionals are to do all the referencing referenc-ing at the registered shoots, and one may rest assured that thoy were a busy bunch. D. N Hood not only won the Utah state championship for the professionals, but also won hlsh average aver-age on the three-day shooW with a score of 427 out of 450. o. C. Hlllhouse and Guy Holohan tied for second with 109, and Pad- MeiWinncy vas third with 401. C. A, Anderson took fourth with a score of 392 out of u possible 45o.
