Hanson, Commander of Mengel said I the linking of his vessel occurred at j 6 30 p. m. and thai he was told by the commander of the submarine that the U-boat had previously sunk three schooners and three steamers, one of which was a large passenger ship of about 5000 tons. These sinkings. Captain Hansen caid had taken place, th- submarine commander told him, on the day previous prev-ious to Saturday. If this is true, it means the destruction of six vessels not previously known to have been sunk. Officials who have heard the captain's cap-tain's story were inclined to doubt thai the T -boat commander had told the truth or thought that here had bet D some misundersanding.
