Mr. Shirer was the first of the victims vic-tims to succumb to his injuries, dying at 3:20 o'clock yesterday morning, while J H Clive died about two hours later. Neither man recovered consciousness. con-sciousness. Spraguc Near Death. In a desperate effort to save the life of Mr. Sprague. another operation was I performed on his skull early yesterday morning. The funeral services for Mr. Shirer will be held at the Elks club, of whicd he was for many years a member, at noon today. The Rev. Peter A. Simp-I Simp-I kin, who had known him practically I all his life, will officiate. The pallbearer.- will be w. F. Snyder, Sny-der, Frank L. Gardner, Alexander Col-bath, Col-bath, C. R. Bates. L A. Clayton and Otto Stalmann. with whom Mr Shirer was associated in the building of the oil shale distillation plant at the University Uni-versity of Utah. The body will be taken to Newark. Ohio, for interment. word being received from relatives ' therp yesterday. Mr.--. S. A Dickinson of 678 East Second South street, an aunt, was the only relative of Mr. Shirer in Salt Lake, and she will prob ably accompany the body east. "Jed" Clive's Funeral. Funeral services for Jed H Clive, as he was familiarly known to many friends, will be held at the family residence, resi-dence, 175 Canyon road, at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon Elder T A Claw-son. Claw-son. bishop of the Eighteen ward, will preside. The speakers will be Apostle O. F. Whitney and Elder Frank Y Taylor The pallbearers will be six nephews. Serge B. Campbell. Clifford Clive. Elliott C. Taylor, Heber C. Clive, Jr. Frank E. Taylor and L'land Campbell. Camp-bell. Mr. Clive is survived by a widow and six children, as follows: Mrs. C. C. Mackintosh and Mrs. Ethel C. ( amp bell or 175 Canyon road; Mist Man Clive of the same address; J. H. Clive. Jr. of Ogden: Leroy C. Clive of 118 Second avenue, and Myron C. Clive, who is in France with the American expeditionary forces. n |
