The letter from Secretary of Labor W. B. Wilson, which explains the plan, is as follows: "Managing Editor The Standard. tg den. Utah. Dear Sir. There is no more worthy demand than the farmer's farm-er's for help to produce the nation's food. The department of labor, cooperating co-operating with the department of agriculture, ag-riculture, is expanding its U. S. employment em-ployment serVlce to find all available j labor and correlate every activity to- n.-.rl mi-i-liri" this demand " The postmaster generaJ has authorized author-ized rural carriers and postmasters in rural communities and smaller towns to aid (his sen ice as labor agents. But over 100 of the 316 American ciUes above 20,000 population havt- no public pub-lic employment Office and in many of such offices no special farm service Is given. There is hardly time to open and train the needed offices for this .i.-un's farm needs. "In this emergene . I am asking the patriotic help of the 736 daily newspa i pers of these cities, to establish co-op- j erative farm labor agencies. The plan of organization is outlined in the attached at-tached memorandum.
