Show Scofield Takes Medal I In Golf Tourney P1NJ0HUKST, N. C, April 2. E. L. Scofield of Stamford. Conn., won the qualifying medal here today in the north and south amateur champion ship golf tournament. Scofield added a 74 today to the 77 made in the first 18 holes yesterday, giving him 151. Irvmg S Robeson of Rochester took second honors with a total of 159; Dr. H. Gardner of Providence, third with IGo; Guy a Miller of Detroit, fourth with 161 and Donald Parson of Yungs-town Yungs-town and Franklin Gates of Plnehurst, tied for fifth place with 163. The others who qualified for the championship, in which play begins tomorrow, were: Henry C. Fownes. Pittsburg; Arthur Yates, Rochester; Allan Laird, Washington: Wash-ington: Howard G. Phillips. Plnehurst; P. S. MacLaughlln. Scarsdale; Leslie Deane Pierce. Rochester. Vt. ; Walter M. Crooks. Holyoke; R. A. Stranahan. Toledo; Richard Turnstall. Norfolk, and Robert M. Markwell. Chicago Play today was remarkably good, 170 being called for as admission to tho championship sixteen, and more than 100 players finishing the 36 holes under 19$ |
