Show YOUNG MAN KILLED UNDER NEAR FARMINGTl STATION Mystery still surrounds the Identity of the young man who was killed last night near the Farmington station beneath be-neath .the wheels of a Bamberger electric elec-tric train. Representatives of the company have been engaged today in trying to establish the identity of the stranger and havo circulated his photograph pho-tograph and tried to get, a clue, as to his name and address through clothing he wore, but to no avail. ' Death occurred when he jumped from a southbound car at 11:45 o'clock. Ho was mangled horribly by the wheels, both arms being cut off and his body badly torn. Ho wore a broad-brimmed cowboy hat, sold by a firm at Green River, Wyo., and a suit of clothes sold by Brown-Carlson-Tre-sedcr company of Ogden. He was about 20 years of age and six feet tall. Inquiry today at the latter firm was not re-warded by any information which would tend to prove the man's identity, as the suit had evidently been worn a year and the salesman at the clothing store had forgotten the incident of its sale. A couple of postal card photographs were found in his pockets, one of himself him-self and another young man and tho other of a young woman and a child-An child-An empty purse and a woman's handkerchief hand-kerchief were found In his pockets. He also carried a cheap watch, but no letters let-ters or other articles were found which would give a clue to his identity. iden-tity. Tho unfortunate youth is thought to have boarded what he thought to be the train for Ogden and when he found it going the wrong way he leaped from the train- He was seen by several passengers and when his body disappeared under the wheels, the train was immediately stopped. Sheriff Naldcr of Davis county took charge of the body and ncld it until noon today while efforts arc being made to Identify it. He then informed the Kirkendall undertaking establishment establish-ment of Ogden and that company made arrangements to bring the body to this city this afternoon. Body Identified. At a late hour today the Identity of tho young man killed last night at Farmington was established as George Rose, 19 years of age, S49 Thirtieth street, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Rose. He had gone to Lagoon with Josh Rhodes and Jim Hassel, two young Ogden men, and another com-I com-I panion. From one of these boys It was learned that Rose and another young man boarded the southbound train before be-fore it had come to a full stop at La-geen. La-geen. Hnssel and Rhodes boarded It a couple of cars back, after it had stopped. When the train started again in the direction of Salt Lake, Rhodes asked if it was going to Ogden and was told it was not. The two on the rear cars alighted safely but did not see Rose and his companion. It is thought they did not learn their mistake mis-take until the train was moving at rapid speed. When Rose attempted tp aliglit, he is said to have swung under the wheels through becoming overbalanced over-balanced while riding the step and holding to the hand rail. Rose is survived by his father and mother, a sister and by young brothers. |
