Show WOOD AND INK STAINS "C. F." has a polished oak table which has been stained by hot irons. She'wants to remove the marks. Try rubbing with vaseline; sometimes some-times it restores tho surface admirably. admir-ably. The ink stains in her carpet have, we are afraid, become permanent. perma-nent. A correspondent once wrote and said she had removed ink stains from a carpet by using a weak solution of caustic soda and warm water. Great care had to be taken she said, in order that the solution did not spread into the carpet surrounding the stain. She found the results satisfactory. Of course, this is somewhat risky. i |
