Some of the best shows on the road have been hooked to stop hero and help to tone up the war spir- j it with diversified entertainment ' Manager Joo Goss of the Orpheum claims iifs life has been made mis-1 criiblc during tho past few weeks by friends enquiring about the shows he has booked So yesterday he hunted up a representative of the Standard and conlessed all he knows. Biq Film Coming First and foremost among the disclosures dis-closures ho made was that "Hearts of the World," tho stupendous motion I picture which played Salt Lake rccent- I ly, will bo In Ogden as the first at- SJ traction of the season, on August IS, M and will run for an entiro week, glv- 1 ing two shows daily. This picture is H said to be a sort of sequel to "The h Birth of A Nation" and is acclaimed ifl by critics nnd the rank and file of all H tho towns where il has been shown as the greatest and most timely picture I of the age. It was taken for the most I part on battlefields in Europe and N shows actual battle scenes with start - I ling effectiveness. AH seats will be 1 reserved for this show. The sale will 9 open August 16. I The Pantages vaudeville will start August 29. Mr. Goss declared this II vaudeville service during the coming H season will be bigger and better than H over before. The war has broken up i so many of the teams, he says, that II the actors have been forced to get up W new material and new tricks and all of fl them will be fresh and entertaining. n He mentioned especially one act which is coming direct from Spain. It has P a company of 29 people and is one fl of tho most gorgeous vaudeville acts ever brought to this country. Excellent Road Shows In the line of road shows the Orpheum Or-pheum will present the best tho season sea-son has christened. Among the number num-ber will be "Business Before Pleas- I" ure," "The Little Teachor," with Maud Fenly, "Parlor, Bedroom and Bath," "Doing Our Bit," the big Winter Garden Gar-den Revue, "Seventeen," "The Man Who Stayed at Home," "Oh, Johnny, Oh," "Friendly Enemies," "Daddy Long Legs," "Going Up." "The Tailor-Made Man," "May Time" "The Bird of Paradise," Para-dise," "So Long, Lettie," with Charlotte Char-lotte Greenwood, "You'ro in Love" "The Kiss Burglar," "Leave It To Jane," "The Eyes of Youth," "Ben Hur," "The Man Who Came Back," J etc. I One big attraction coming will be (ho San Carlos Grand Opera Company, a company of grand opera stars of high quality. This company will present pre-sent two operas in Ogden, the names not having been announced. Maud Adams is also booked for a production here. George Arliss is another an-other eminent star. Richard Carle will come with a leading attraction. 11 Two shows which have claimed much y attention, "Furs and Frills" and "Pol-Jn "Pol-Jn lyanna" will also be brought to Ogden. H Manager Goss says tho usual motion j picture policy will be maintained the I best feature pictures obtainable, with j Chaplin and Olga Pctrova as the lead-! lead-! ers. The second Tnrzan picture will j also be brought to the Orpheum, said to bo a better film than the first. The Orpheum theatro is being ren- ovated, new carpets and fixtures be-; be-; ing installed and the interior painted ' and freshened up. Tho orchestra this year will be led j , by Prof. Ervin C.
