Tho local chapter's allotment to be In at the Denver headquarters by September 1st., calls for d.800 pairs of sox and 800 sweaters. Up to the present tho total shlpmonls havo contained con-tained 1,200 pairs of sox and 250 sweaters, all of which are hand-knitted. The entire allotment finished up to date has beCn knitted by hand. The' local chapter has received considerable favorable comment on this fact as the hand knit articles are superior In every ev-ery respeect to tho machine-knit goods. Tho sweaters dono by band are more durable and have a soft finish which p.innnt ho nrnrlupprl hv ihn mnpliJn Though the hand work represents al-! al-! most throe times tho labor of tho manufacturing method, the local authorities au-thorities state that they are far more than repaid for the extra effort because be-cause of the quality of the work. Tho hand -made sox have been found to wear longer and fit much better, thus assuring an additional comfort to the soldier and sailor. The knitting commlttco is as follows: fol-lows: Mrs. W. A. The following letter gives an itemized item-ized nccount of the work received at the Denver office from the Ogden chapter. "Mrs. R. B. Porter: I wish to report on the following numbered cases from your chapter: "Case numbered 182, containing 55 grey sweaters, beautifully made and well tied. "Case number 182, containing 2 af-ghans af-ghans and 175 socks. Very' good work. "Case numbered 182, containing 200 of socks. Work very well done and well'tied. "Case numbered 183, containing 6 afghans and other knitted articles. Also Al-so good work and proporly tied.
