Show DESERTER MAKES GOOD HIS ESCAPE SALT LAKH, July SO Private John Hunt, deserter from the Twentieth infantry, in-fantry, who was being held under guard at Fort Douglas, made his escape es-cape from the post yesterday. Hunt, who was recently picked up by the civil authorities here for being absent without leave. to the point of desertion, was being hold in the post guard house for instructions as whore he should be sent for trial. Yesterday Hunt and other prisoners, as usual, were sent out to work under guard. Watching an opportunity, Hunt is alleged to have eluded tho guard and made his escape from the post. I Officers in tho city and in the surrounding sur-rounding country have been given his description and notified to pick him j j 1 up on sight Hunt was about 5 feet 5 inches In j height, of dark complexion, being of : Spanish blood, and wore a regulation soldier's uniform, with blue overalls. |
