Show CM BOARD FIXES TRE TAX LEVY AT 8,25 MILLS A city tax aggregating S 1-4 mills on the dollar was levied by the city commissioners at their regular meeting meet-ing in tho mayor's office last evening. The tax was designed to cover general city expenses, construction of sewers and drains, improvements and maintenance main-tenance of streets, maintenance of the city bath houses and light works. At the meeting the city treasurer was authorized to transfer $20,000 of I ho waterworks fund to the general fund. ' Fire Chief Graves submitted a plan j to abolish the present system of 'alarms in tho fire alarm boxes of the I city. Pic stated that the present sys-jleni, sys-jleni, which Is over twenty years old, , has in several instances failed to function func-tion causing loss by fire and incon-Ivouience incon-Ivouience to the department The plan was submitted to the commissioner of public safety, Mr. Jones.
