Show M IF ( MILLION OF LIBERTY LOIS SUBSCRIBED Over one-half million dollars in subscriptions sub-scriptions to the second liberty loan had been pledged at noon today through the Utah National bank. A committee composed of tho vice president presi-dent and manager of that institution togcthor with Jos. Scowcroft and W. H. Wattis met at the banking rooms yesterday morning and outlined a plan for reaching tho bank's customers and raising Its quota for the governmont fund. Tho committee decided that the job had to bo dono and thoro was no use wasting time on tho matter. At lunch time tho committeemen compared compar-ed notes and were ablo to announce over $100,000 pledged; before the business busi-ness day had closed the half-million dollar mark was passed. Up to date, tho efforts of the committee com-mittee have been rewarded with tho following Utah National bank subscriptions subscrip-tions to the loan: Utah National bank $100,000 Amalgamated Sugar Co 150.000 David Eccles Co 50,000 J. Scowcroft & Sons Co 50,000 Ogden Portland Cement Co... 20.000 The Utah Construction Co. .. . 30.000 Empire Copper Co 25,000 Utah Snles Co 5,000 Lion Coal Co 10,000 Wyoming Coal Co 5,000 W. H. Wattis 40,000 A. R. Hoy wood 10,000 W. L. Wattis 5.000 Ezra C. Rich 3,000 Miscellaneous 11,000 Total $514,000 Reports from the country districts, where the committees of all banks were working yes'terday and today, indicate in-dicate that the county people look upon up-on the loan with decided favor, and. while their subscriptions are mostly of tho $50 and $100 class, the response is quite general. |
