Show Tons of Bombs Are j Dropped in Single Day by British j BEHIND BRITISH LINES IN I FRANCE, July 31. (Correspondence of' the Associated Press) More than 24-1.000 pounds of bombs were dropped , in a single day recently by pilots of the British air force on objectives behind be-hind tho German lines. I In a week, military establishments i at twelve places wero attacked by air 23 times by the British air force. Captured Cap-tured documents showed that the Ger-1 man army communications had been seriously interrupted at several points. A report from Metz shows that after af-ter a recent raid when the gas works and a number of other important military mili-tary objectives wero heavily bombed, a part of the civil population was sent to Luxemburg. A prisoner stated that while he was in Valenciennes, most of the important j factories in that city were damaged by bombs from the airplanes which wero so high up that they wero invisible in-visible from tho ground. One large factory with four or five chimneys was almost completely demolished. |
