Show FRANK AID OSCAR CONN ARE WITH THE COLORS Frank Coburn. Frank Lynnc R. Coburn was among some of the first to serve his country. He enlisted in Newark, Now Jersey, whero he was employed in an airplane motor factory. He was sent to San Au-tonlo, Au-tonlo, Tex., and from there went to Franco last March with the C4Sth aero supply squadron. Following is a letter from him: "With the American expeditionary forces in France. "Dear Mother: "I received your letter o. k. with two others, one from Alma and one from Bert Aland in France, and enjoyed reading them very much. We are kept very busy now. The climate in great and the flowers are lovely. I enjoy walking out in the fields in the evening even-ing after work and picking flowers. Our eats are good and our sleep is plentiful. There arc no Utah boys with me, my friends aro from everywhere. I'll never know Ogden when I come home as It has been so long since I was there. We had a glorious Fourth of July. The French celebrated with us. I also enjoyed the firth as I was 25 years old that da The American boys are al-! ways happy and jolly We enjoy our III f - Oscar Coburn selves and do our work in a cheerful manner, while the big cannons are roaring around us. Don't worry abour me boing in the army. It won't take us long to wipe Germany off the map the only good German is a dead one, and dead men carry no tales. ' Oscar V Coburn left with the last contingent from University of Utah on August M, 191S, going to Fort Leavenworth, Leaven-worth, Kan. Before enlisting in tho service of his country, ho was an instructor in-structor in manual .training In tho Ogden Og-den high school. At the University of Utah, he took up electrical engineering and Is now with tho signal corps at Fort Lcavcnsworth, Kan. |
