Miss Burke is to teach in the Salt Lake public schools during the next term. HOME FROM IDAHO. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis McCarty have returned from a visit to the Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. McCarty McCar-ty nnd family motored to the Idaho resort and have had a pleasant return trip. RESIDING IN OGDEN. Mr. and Mrs. C-' F. Miss Loretta Malone spent last Monday in Ogden visiting with Mrs. James Walsh, formerly Miss Daisy Maginnls, who is spending the summer sum-mer with her mother, Mrs. W. L. Prebble was hostess to a few of the many friends of Carl Blaise, popular young business man of this city, last Tuesday evening when she gave a din"r parly. Tho Civic Federation of Women's clubs will meet on Monday September 9 instead of tho coming Monday as previously announced. The place of meeting will be announced later. ROYAL PURPLE CLUB. The ladies ofthe Royal Purple club met last Monday evening with Mrs. Goucher, 2938 Lincoln avenue, when several games of high five were played, play-ed, the favors being won by Mrs- Anna An-na Powers, Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Anna Turner. Mullen and daughters have returned from the coast where Mr. Mullen has been ill in the Southern Pacific hospital in San Francisco. RETURN FROM EAST. Dr. and Mrs. James P. Dinneen and little son have returned from the east where they have been visiting for tho past three weeks or more. Dr. Dinneen Din-neen attended the convention of don-tlsts don-tlsts ami also was a delegate to the Knights of Columbus gathering in New York City. WATERMELON PARTY AND DANCE At Lorin Farrt park last Saturday evening the Misses P. T. Tippets and Blanche Smith entertained a number of their friends at a watermelon party, which was chaperoned by Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Jone3. Miss Jean Wood who has beeu spending the week in Salt Lake City returned to Ogden today with Mrs. J. W. Hyslop and family. BIRTHDAY SURPRISE PARTY In honor of Mrs. Archie Moore whose birthday It was on Thursday of this week a pretty surprise party was gMven in the evening at the Moore home, 164 Doxey avenue. A number of friends gathered at the home and spent the evening in playing card games for which honors were given to Mrs. Eastman, Mr. Williams and Miss Doxey. McBride and daughters Ruth and Roberta returned to Ogden from the Pacific const last Tuesday. They have been visiting in Los Angeles An-geles and the beaches for two months. ENGAGEMENT OF POPULAR OGDEN OG-DEN GIRL. Mr. and Mrs. I. II. Barlow announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Sylvia Barlow to Allan S. Tingcy. son of Bishop and Mrs. Franklin S. Tingey of Salt Lake City. The wed-ing wed-ing date has been set for September 18. FAREWELL PARTY PLANNED. Next Monday evening in the Wilson ward amusement hall a farewell party has been planned in honor of Ira Drake and Delbert Knight who are to leave soon for service in the army. The affair of Monday will begin at S:30 o'clock when a program of musical musi-cal numbers and speeches Avill be given.
