Thousands j&& of Salt Lake residents fringed the line sSSm of march of the Memorial day parade 9B yesterday, giving tribute of honor to H the memory of those who have served their flag on the battlefields of the sSH republic and, combining with the rev- tBM erence for these men and their ser- BH vices, another tribute of honor and re- SB spect' for those "who will servo under 3H the Stars and Stripes in the war for SH world democracy. The parade was 9H almost exclusively military in charac- jflH Arrangements for handling the pa- 38H rade were perfect. The streets were JH well policed and the crowds handled H efficiently. Intersections v.'ere roped -jM off, automobiles were removed from 2I the line of march, and there was no "Hf obstruction of the view, no congestion u"t1fi& of traffic. Auxiliary to the police, the WP Boy Scouts, stationed at short inter- tffirygy, vals throughout the line, held back tW those who would have crowded from the curb to the pavement, and assist ed in preserving the dignity of the oc-icasion. oc-icasion. The parade moved punctually from Eagle gate at 11 o'clock. Every detachment de-tachment and division was in its appointed ap-pointed place and ready when the bugle calls gave the signal to start Then it swung into step, and moved like a great and perfectly adjusted machine, evoking applause throughout the line by its splendid appearance and perfect organization.
