Barker to serve thirty days in jail for violently assaulting A. L. Devol-boss Devol-boss yesterday afternoon, at Twenty-fifth Twenty-fifth street and Grant avenue. The complaining witness, who was walking along the avenue with his wife and sister immediately prior to the assault, was knocked into tho gutter by Linker and rendered unconscious. His assailant, assail-ant, who was intoxicated at the time, was placed under arrest by Sergeant Blackburn and Detectivo Moore. Frank Whalen, John Cromley and Robert Smith, vagrants, were each sentenced sen-tenced to serve ten days in jail. Albert Al-bert Ling and J. Callahan, plain drunks, each received a five-day son-tenco. son-tenco. For drunkenness and disturbing disturb-ing tho peace, George Shepherd was sentenced to serve ten days Charles A. Burk and Walter Johnson, charged with drunkenness, each forfeited $5 ball. J. Y. Rockfollow was found guilty of operating an automobile at an excessive ex-cessive rate of speed across tho Second Sec-ond and Washington avenue crossing at Five Points and fined $10. He was halted by Traffic Officer J. C. Johns. |
