Show MILITARY HEADQUARTERS FOR OGDEN. By making tho proper representation, representa-tion, Ogdon should be able to obtain a federal military camp and supply depot This city is an interior point which could not bo attacked by an invading in-vading force short of a long conflict, and the railroad facilities are of the very best, tho Union Pacific and Southern Pacific, with tho Oregon Short Line and Denver &. Rio Grande offering rail transportation to the four points of tho compass. While Salt Lako Is facing the almost insurmountable obstacle of supplying water for the present post at Fort Douglas, Ogden, with its unlimited flow from the artesian wells of Ogden valley, could provldo a water system for a camp of half a million soldiers. Soon three-quarters of a million men will be under arms In the United States and more and better army quarters quar-ters must be established. Why not make a bid for an army post, munition depot and ordnance plant at Ogden? Why not bring Ogden's advantages to tho attention of tho military authorities authori-ties and to the congress of the United States? This is a timo when sites must be selected, not by political influence or community pull, but by morit oo |
