Show PETE WSSER DESIBES TO MEET 111 JT Pete Visser was about town again today, having recovered from his gruelling gruel-ling bout with Jack Harbertson. Pie is seeking a return match with Harbertson Har-bertson at catch weights and with this in view, submitted the following to The Standard: "Sporting Editor, Standard; "On behalf of the wrestling fans of Ogden and for the good of the gamo, I hereby challenge Jack Harbertson for a return match at catch weights. "In our recent match Mr. Harbertson Harbert-son refused to meet me under any condition con-dition only that I meet his weight and make 178 pounds at 3 p. m. The result re-sult vas shown at the ring, just as Mr. Harbei ison had figured. He knew that Pete Visser would be a weakened man at 17S pounds and a different man to wrestle than Pete Visser at his normal weight and in good condition. "In light-heavyweight and heavyweight heavy-weight matches, twenty or thirty or even forty pounds is not considered a handicap. Why, then, should Mr. Harbertson Har-bertson be afraid to meet me and wrestle at catch weights when there will be only a few pounds difference. I recently wrestled Strangler Lewis at catch weights and he weighed forty to fifty pounds more than I did; yet the bout was a more oven match than my match with Harbertson, simply because be-cause both men were at their best and in normal condition. "The fans of Ogden wish to see tho best man win. Why, then, not let both men enter tho ring at their best and feeling as they should, and as such this challenge is open to Jack Harbertson. Harbert-son. Yours for good, clean sport, (Signed.) PETE VISSER, Heavyweight champion of intermoun- tain states. |
