A I One statement is that unless the Amorl- can women put aside tho vanities of high f heeled shoca and tight fitting clothes and LM : let tho sun send its rnys into every crack Lm - and cranny of the human system in a few 'j years at the very most they may make 'j up their minds to producing n race of Enemies. , ' -1 Sun bathB are all very well in the win-US win-US 1 ter, spring and fall, but tho -unwisdom of going about too much in the hot summer .' eun is daily being demonstrated by the "ib ' number of heat prostrations in the cities. Plenty of fresh air is essential nt all ' Hj times, and it Is hardly possible to got too p. I much, 'but one may find its substitute, the tfreiij electric fan, dangerous if not properly r lUj nsed. Certainly these fans are a great aid in keeping comfortable in warm weather, but should be used judiciously and should never be turned directly upon the body, if one would avoid neuralgia, rheumatism and even pneumonia. On the other hand, if properly used the electric fan will prove a means of getting air that is cool and greatly purified. The drinking of water is quite as essential essen-tial to summer comfort as is the daily bath, but both of these also require care and proper attention to Bpccial needs. In travelling, especially, one should be sure that the water is pure and should carry ono's own drinking cup, or use only the sanitary one furnished individually. The much vaunted cold bath is a wonderful won-derful tonic for some constitutions, but there nrc others who find the shock and consequent reaction too pcverc. For these the daily bath of warm water, with the gradual cooling of the water, will be found most 'beneficial. In Search of Health. Proper bathing, plenty of good, pure water taken internally, fresh air and sunlight sun-light -will be found to be better than nil tho medicine in the world, if taken judiciously. judi-ciously. But even tho gifts of nature must be used with proper discretion. One cannot revel too thoughtlessly even in tho attributes of health without having to pay the fiddler. Use discretion in all things if you wish to finish up the summer sum-mer In good condition. |
