Show ME CHILDREN TO 00 THEIR PART T. J. Newbill, of the Junior Extension Exten-sion Division, U. S. department of agriculture, ag-riculture, was in Ogden yesterday afternoon. aft-ernoon. He came from Provo, with Prof. Hogensen, of tho B. Y. C. They were met here by Robert E. Wilson of the Weber county council of defense and E. S. Hinckley, superintendent of the State Industrial school. The party par-ty went on an auto trip to the city wells. From there they returned to the Hermitage, to enjoy a trout and chicken dinner. Returning to Ogden, they went to tho Industrial school, where Prof. Hogensen and Mr. New-bill New-bill spoke to the boys. The two gentlemen addressed the boys on general educational linespand that the talks were Interesting was shown by the manner in which the youngsters responded. Tributes were paid to them for the manner In which they had responded to the call for conservation con-servation in the national crisis and the way in which they had shown their willingness to work In tho Interests of the nation. Mr. Newbill stated afterwards that tho work he is engaged in is of vast magnitude, few people realizing tho extent ex-tent to which the government is going in its work with the children of tho land. It costs more to feed and clothe tho children of tho land, he stated, than it does to operate the greatest industry In tho country. For this reason rea-son tho work of educating the children and of teaching them industry is of vast importance, and its importance is coming to bo more realized every day. |
