Show oo PRESERVING OF FRUIT. The Standard has referred to a WI1-lard WI1-lard orchardist who put up fruit five years ago without the use of sugar and, on opening the jars, found his preserves in excellent condition. The Standard promised to give the fruit grower's method to the public, but was informed yesterday that the government gov-ernment instructions on preserving without sugar, as printed in this paper, pa-per, were followed by the Willard man. An experienced fruit man states that in all our preserved fruits, too much sugar Is used; that a very little sugar will serve the purpose. Tne Jars and cans must be sealed hot, after the boiled fruit has been poured into the containers. This Is one of the secrets of success in preserving. on |
