June 30. President Presi-dent Wilson's call for volunteers to bring the regular army up to its full war strength of 300,000 men by today to-day has not been realized. War department de-partment figures indicate that there is still a shortage of 50,000 men. This discrepancy probably will be relieved reliev-ed by taking reservists from the ranks of the now selective army. With "recruiting week" at an end, only nine states have furnished the complete quotas requested. Nevada, the first to fill her quota, supplied 611 on an allotment of 162. Figures for other states arc: Idaho, 737, quota 650; Illinois 12.4S1, quota 11,276; Indiana In-diana 7,146, quota' 5,400; Michigan 6, 027, quota 5.620; Montana 1,043. quota 752.
