Show THEATERS AT THE ORPHEUM. Charles B Hanford, the eminent Shakesperean actor, appeared at the Orpheum theatre last night In the role of a lecturer. His theme was the story of Captain Scott's expedition to the South Pole and, gien with moving mov-ing picture illustrations of that now historic journey, the lecture seemed almost unsurpassable. The pictures, which were taken bv Herbert G. Ponging, official photographer photogra-pher of the Scott expedition, are wonderfully won-derfully realistic. They disclose not only the tragic story of Captain Scott's death and the events leading up to It, but life in the frozen Antarctic Ant-arctic regions In a deeply interesting and entertaining manner. From every ev-ery point of view, and especially that of education, Mr. Hanfords lecture and the Scott pictures are well worth hearing and seeing. |
