Pierce, or the Ogden Union Railway & Depot company, com-pany, was busy today, preparing to turn his office over to Assistant Superintendent Su-perintendent H. L. Bell, of the Salt Lake division of the Southern PaciHc, who becomes terminal superintendent next Monday On Ihe same date, Mr. Pierce assumes the superintendency of the Utah-Montana division of the Oregon Short Line, with headquart ers at Pocatello, succeeding ihe late A F. Brewer in that position. That Mr Pierce will leave a splendid splen-did working organization for his successor, suc-cessor, particularly in the passenger department of the local terminal, is evidenced by the following letter recently re-cently received by the retiring official offi-cial from G. W. Lynch, president of the Utah division, Travelers' Protec tive association- "Will you permit me, please, to say a word in praise of the very efficient service you give the traveling pub lie at the Union station, Ogden. The service given at Ogden is the best I see anywhere in all my travels, and I have visited nearly, if not all, the union stations in the United States. "It is a pleasure to report that I have yet to see one that gives me any better, if as good service, as at Ogden You have a splendid corps of efficient, attentive, pleasant help that are always ready and willing to serve the public in a pleasing and gentlemanly gentle-manly manner. , "As head of the Utah division of a National organization numbering more than 50,000 traveling salesmen, who esteem it a pleasure at all times to give credit where credit Is due. and whose aim it is to imprbvc conditions con-ditions which can be improved, I would be presuming to entertain the thought of any suggestions for luv proving the service now being given al the Ogden station. Thanking you in behalf of my fellow travelers, I re main, (Signed) 'G. LYNCH, President Utah Division, Travelers' Protective Association." That Mr. Pierce Is also a believer in giving credit where credit is due, was instanced in the fact that copies of Mr. Lynch's letter wern delivered to Depotmaster John Shields, Seupt F "W. Gentsch, of the O. S. L. dining car and hotel department, P. A. Dixon, agent Wells-Fargo company: C. A. FallenUne, agent American Express Company, and R. B Carter, baggago agent, with an ppended statement from the terminal superintendent, acknowledging ac-knowledging the efficient service given giv-en by these officials and their subordinates sub-ordinates as having been responsible for the compliment given by the head of the Travelers' association. |
