Show FIGHTING ON THE I iSKIIISH Hill:I London, April 29, 12:35 a. m The H British official communication on the H operations in Belgium and France, H issued last night, follows: V"Y-'H "Early this morning the enemy at- H tempted to enter our trenches north H of Roclincourt, after exploding six H mines and a bombardment by artil- H lery and trench mortars, ljut were re- pulsed. The day passed quietly in the H neighborhood of Loos, since the gal- H lant fighting of the Sixteenth Irish H division broke the German attack de- H lfvered yesterday under the cover of H gas. Elsewhere there were only un- H Important artillery actions at isolated H points. M "There has been considerable activ- M ily in the air. Four of our machines M attacked eight hostile machines. Fly- fl ing in formation, they moved a wedge M in the middle of the enemy squad- M ron, and, after a fight lasting ten M minutes, four of the enemy machines M were driven down, one landing in a M plowed field. One of our machines M was hit, but we suffered no casual- H ties. In another fight, one enemy ma- M chine is believed to have been hit." H |
