Show & SOCIETY & PRETTY SOCIAL AFFAIR ON , EASTER MONDAY. Easter Monday, April 24, several delightful de-lightful events were presided over by Ogden's society folk, among the most Important being the afternoon tea given by Mrs. William Clarence Wright and airs. Herbert William Dunn at the Wright home, G06 Twenty-third street. About 250 invitations had been issued is-sued and nearly all were responded to. From 2 30 to 5:30 o'clock tho ladles la-dles were received by the hostesses and escorted into the dining room where refreshments were served. The dining room wns beautiful with Easter East-er lilies and fern, the color scheme being perfectly carried out in green and white. The table was attractive with a cluny lace cover over pale green satin while as the central decorative piece, a French basket of Easter lilies with butterfly bow of pale green maline. was placed. An added attraction was the candelabra tied with dainty maline bous and holding green candles. Presiding over the tea table during dur-ing tho afternoon were Mrs Richard Myers and Mrs. Henry Moyle of Salt Lake Mrs. 1. L Reynolds. Mrs W. D Brown, Mrs. Henry Volker, Miss Rachel Wright, Miss Lillian Wright and Miss Alberta Wright In the parlors, springtime reigned supreme with branches of fragrant peach and cherry blossoms in profu sion Baskets of the lovely blossoms on which were perched tiny artificial birds were prettily arranged. During the the receiving hours Miss Lillian Thatcher's orchestra played a program of delightful musical numbers num-bers among them being Polonaise Milltalre F. Mrs Hyrum Smith. 3511 Washington Washing-ton avenue, was hostess to the Home Culture club Thursday afternoon, April 27. Mrs. Robert Ageo read a paper on Whitman, His Philosophy and Eccentricities. Eccen-tricities. After the reading of some of his most familiar poems the members joined in a general discussion. Mrs E. P. Mills read WhittlGrs "Marguerite." Mrs. Jay Smith gave a short sketch of the life of Charies Reads and read In a very entertaining entertain-ing manner, his master piece. The Cloister and the Hearth" Tho club adjourned fto meet with Mrs. E. P. Mills on May 13th. CHAUTAUQUA READERS. A special meeting of the Chautauqua Chautau-qua Literary and Scientific Reading Circle was held at the home of J. M. Preshaw, 2729 Grant avenue. Tuesday April 25. Mrs Johnson, instructor in English at Weber academy, gave a Clear and interesting review of the book "American Literature' by Kath-erlne Kath-erlne Lee Bates after which a social hour was enjoyed and delicious luncheon lunch-eon served by the hostess. The readers are looking forward with pleasure to the Chautauqua Boosters' banquet to be held in this city May 12. Mrs Johnson, who gave the Bplen-dld Bplen-dld review of the new book taken up by the Chautauqua Readers, completed com-pleted a six weeks' course in Chautauqua Chau-tauqua work In New York last year under Professor Clark and her presence pres-ence at the meeting of the readers last Tuesday was thoroughly appreciated appre-ciated by even-one present MRS. Heaton is visiting with friends and former acquaintances acquaintan-ces in Ogden. Mrs. Heaton will render ren-der the morning solo at the First Presbyterian Pres-byterian church. 1916 500 CLUB. The 1916-500 club met Thursday April 27 with Mrs. Hanley, 2124 Royal avenue. The usual games were played, play-ed, honors going to Mrs. BaumeiBter, Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Varney. Before adjournment the hostess served refreshments re-freshments The table was prettily decorated with spring flowers. A guest of the club for the afternoon was Mrs. Clark. Mr and Mrs. Samuel Kline announce an-nounce the engagement of their daughter, Sophie to Mr. Nate Block of Pocatello, Ida. The bride to be and her family are well known hero, Mr. Kline having been identified with the growth of Ogden. lie is now making his home in Portland, Ore. EASTER-TIDE DISPLAY. An attractive little Easter tide display dis-play of fancy work and candy will be given by the junior auxiliary of the Parish of the Good Shepherd in the Guild room of the Parish house on Wednesday, May 3d from 4 until 9 p. m. Light refreshments will also be 'served. The interest and pntron-age pntron-age of their elders will be a great Encouragement to this young band of workers. EASTER PARTY. An Easter party for Wanda Gregory Greg-ory was given by Mr. and Mrs. J. Mullough iast Sunday afternoon. Those present were: Beatrice Childs, MaxInG Childs, Harold Thome of Om-,aha, Om-,aha, Lola Morrison, Tutsle Thinnes. Lela Butler and Norma Gregory. They were given an automobile rido up the canyon whero luncheon was enjoyed en-joyed and pictures taken. Games were played and a hunt for wild flowers participated in by all. Mrs. Bullough and. Mrs. Gregory were chaperons. PLEASANT EVENT. A party was given Saturday evening, even-ing, April 22, for Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bullough at their home, 355 Twenty-eighth Twenty-eighth street. Mabel Moon entertained the members of the Past Noble Grand club Thursday afternoon at her home on Washington avenue after a social j time the guests were Invited to the dining room where a lunch was sorv-ed. Mrs. Moon was assisted by Mrs. J. L. Davis and Mrs. R. C. Glasmann. The tables were decorated with vases of sweetpeas. The lucky players were Mrs. Robert Harlln and Mrs. Lee Chamberlln. After cards a delicious Dutch lunch was served. A cut glass bowl filled with lilacs formed the centerpiece on the dining table. Covers were laid for Mrs. Robert Rob-ert Harlln, Mrs. Lee Chamberlln, Mrs. Davis, Mrs Fred D. Williams, Mrs. Jessie G-Stratford, Mrs. William Wilson, Miss Lillian I awson, Mrs. Charlies Lunt, and Mrs. Thomas Maltman. Miss Lucile Baker assisted the hostess in serving. ABOUT 100 GUESTS ENTERTAINED BY MRS. E. F. HUNDLEY. A beautifully appointed Easter Monday tea was given April 24 by Mrs. E. F. Hundley, 2547 Jefferson avenue in honor of her mother, Mrs. Adam Patterson and sister, Miss Patterson of California who are viBit-ine- in Ozden for several weeks. From 2:30 to 5.30 o'clock about one hundred guests were received by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. David Patterson, Pat-terson, Mrs. Patriok Healy and Mrs. J. C. Lynch Little Miss Marlon Wallace Wal-lace presided at the door with a dainty dain-ty basket and received cards. The reception hall was attractive with baskets of yellow Iris prettily ar' ranged and at one corner the Albert Erlckson orchestra of five string pieces furnished delightful music during dur-ing the receiving hours. In the library li-brary beautiful applo blossoms were arranged In Jardinieres and banked In the corners. Here the Misses Ma-blc Ma-blc Moyes and Irma Eccles prettily gowned, served delicious fruit punch. Bowls of van-colored sweet peas and tall baskets of snap-dragons graced the parlor mantel and tables while in the dining room Easter lilies and yellow tulle was used in decorating. Yesterday afternoon the volley ball team of the PIngree school defeated the Lorin-Farr girls' team 21 to 14 in the first game played. The second Bcore wns 21 to 19 In favor of the Lorin-Farr team and the PIngree girls won 21 to 9 in the final game which was a contest to pick the best play ers. The Lorin-Farr team were form er champions. With Gladys Grandquist as captain the following girls comprise the winning win-ning team: Marguerite Fowler, Thel-raa Thel-raa Crltchlow, Louise Grange, Alvina Johnson, Doris Wheat, Jessie Burton.
