Show RECRUITING OFFICES BECOME SUSPICIOUS. Salt Lake, Feb. 24. Reports that German secret service agents are visiting vis-iting United States army, navv and marine corps recruiting stations in various parts of the country, with a view to learning whether this government govern-ment is aiding English recruiting agents, ag-ents, is causing the local stations to keep a strict watch on all applicants. It was learned yesterday that two men, who are thought to be Germans by their accent and features, applied for enlistment to the local recruiting office of the United States marine corps. When informed that their applications ap-plications were refused on the grounds that they were not citizens of the United States, they immediately in quired, as to the possibilities of sign-Ing sign-Ing for the British marines for service at the front. They, however, denied connection with the German secret service when questioned. They gave their names as John Bremley and Harry Stout. |
