Show BUNNY BRIEF TO BE ON THE JOB Salt Lake Club Lines Up First Sacker Who Is Noted as Crack Batsman. Salt Lake, Feb. 24. President Frank S. Murphy of the Salt Lake baseball club received a telegram from Bunny Brief yesterday containing contain-ing three words of real importance to local baseball plans. These words were "your terms accepted." All of which means that Mr. B. Brief will be on the job this year with the Blankmen. Bunny will also have his batting eyes along with him and is expected to do all kinds of things to certain Coast league pitch ers who are after slabster records. j With the acceptance of Brief, Manager Man-ager Blankenship's infield Is practically practi-cally completed with tho exception of a second baseman. Shinn's contract is dally expected along with those of Ovid Mulllns, Bert Hall, and Jimmy Breton. It Is believed that all of these men will come through in the immediate future and then the local pilots can begin to formulate some tangible plans In the organization of their attack and defense. At present Brief is at his homo in j Traverse. Mich. He expects to leave fo: Modesto In plenty of time to get into proper shape for the strenuous summer that is coming up. Skipper Blankcnship and Prexy Murphy were greatly pleased with the telegram and each declared that there I will bo nothing to it when the Infants start their pennant-winning climb. While there was practically no doubt j that Brief had joined the holdouts' so- I ciety, the receipt of the telegram from the "genial first-sackor cheered them I mightily along with the rest of the j baseball boosters. j President Murphy also announced B last night that a contract had been let for the installation of a water I sprinkling system which will enable the groundkeepors to kill the dust on j the entire field with one twist of the I faucet. Considerable progress has J been made In fixing up the grounds 1 and when the season opens Salt Lake I will have one of the fastest parks In h the league. I |
