Show CHASED 01 WITH J BEDHOT POKER In the district court, W. Jacobus Van Emmerick has commenced divorce di-vorce proceedings against Arnoldina Emmerick, on the grounds of cruety. Ho claims an interest in certain alleged al-leged community property, valued at 510,000, a portion of which he asks to ibe awarded him. He also wants the court to direct that tho defendant pay the costs of suit and furnish such general gen-eral relief as tho court may deem equitable. The plaintiff alleges that he married tho defondant January 23, 1913, and that within three weeks after the marriage mar-riage Mrs. Emmerick slapped his face and kicked him out of bed. On another an-other occasion, the plaintiff avers, the defendant slapped him because he could not properly mend a pair of shoes, and, when he was ill, in December De-cember of the year of the marriage, she whipped him and abused him. The last act of cruelty is alleged to have been in the latter part of 1915, when the defendant attempted to poison him. On one occasion during their married mar-ried life, the plaintiff says, the defendant de-fendant chased him with a redhot poker and threw a bucket of potatoes in his face. oo |
