The H whole question with reference to oh- H talningj recruits for the army is under M consideration by tho cabinet and Its M decision will be announced before jl Easter, Premier Asquith announced H in the house of commons this after- M The premier's statement was made IH as a response to the agitation of H married men that all single men M should be called up before the mar- B ried men enlist and the equally insist- H ent demands of some political leaders H that services be made compulsory for M all men of military age. H The premier said the government H was examining the figures of recruits H obtainable under the present system H and is estimating what additional IH number of recruits was necessary. H Premier Asquith, who arrived from iH Italy, was bombarded with questions, jH but in most cases his replies wero H non-committal. H His answer with respect to recruit- M ing is hardly calculated to satisfy tho ll Unionist advocates of conscripting M who demanded from Andrew Bonar H Law, Unionist leader in the commons, M an immediate decision, threatening 1 to put a motion of want of confidence 'M in case of an unsatisfactory reply.
