Show BRITISH AID FOR BELGIANS Government Contributes Relief Re-lief Fund of 500,000 Pounds Sterling Monthly to Distressed Country. London, April 6, 3:15 p. m. The British government's contribution for the relief of' Belgium and northern France is about 500,000 pounds monthly, month-ly, Sir Edward Grey, the foreign secretary, sec-retary, said today in the house of commons. He explained that this money was not paid directly but was given by the Belgian government from funds loaned to it Sir Edward was asked whether the American government had contributed anything to the fund. He said: "The United States government of course has not so far as I know lent any money to the Belgian government and is not one of the allies." |
