Show jj RACING RULES ARE AMENDED Abuses Resulting From Bidding Bid-ding Up Horses in Selling Races Must Stop. New York, Feb. 11. An amendment to the rules governing selling races will go into effect at the races near New York City. It was adopted by the Jockey club yesterday and It is Intended to stop tbe abuses resulting from bidding up horses In selling ro-ces, ro-ces, said to be done frequently by trainers. It Is also Intended to end tho practices of putting up. In cheap selling races, horses that aro valued at a great deal more than the amount for which they are entered. The rule, as amended, provides that every horse running lu a selling race shall if be Is a winner, bellable to be claimed for the selling price by the owner of any other horse, but, if it Is a condition of the race that the winner win-ner shall bo sold at auction, the sale shall take place immediately after the race. Tho surplus over the selling-price selling-price is to be equally divided among all starters In the race. |
