Pat Moran, tho Phillies' leader, does not intend to be caught unawares this season sea-son and has already sized up the baseball base-ball situation fo 1916. The astute leader of the National League champions has been studying philosophy as applied to baseball and has figured that the other teams in the league will fight tho Phillies from the start, and as a result, tho battle will be an uphill one all the way. Pat realizes that it will be no easy task to repeat this year, and it will be his policy to acquaint the members of tho team with conditions as they will actually exist. In addition to the state of mind outlined, out-lined, Pat also points out that there is a plethora of talent on the market, and, as tho baseball war Is ended, far-seoing far-seoing owners will acquire all the good players possible. It Is also realized that while there is sentiment In basehall there is also a business side that has an attractive appeal to owners, and with the days of baseball prosperity in sight there was and is bound to be a scramble for the annexation of one time "Fed" stars To offset this added opposition Moran Mor-an will have to bring all his ability into play, as the champions will enter the tray with practically the same lineup. While Pat feels that with conditions the same as in 1915 he would be able to canter away with another victory, he Is altogether too much of a general not to realize that a bitter fight will bo on.
