Show DROPS DEAD WHILE PLAYING GAME OF. BASKETBALL ? Salt Lake, Fob. 12. While playing in a game of basketball at the Hill-crest Hill-crest school gymnasium at Murray last night, Georgo Malloy, 16 years of age, fell to the tloor and died before professional aid could be summoned. Young Malloy waa playing a guard position for the Murray five against a few players from the Granite high school In a preliminary game to the main event of tho evening. The main game was to be played between the Tooele high Bchool and the Murray five. Four minutes after tho game was started tho Granite men had the ball at their end of the 'field. Malloy was at the other end when he fell unconscious uncon-scious to tho floor. Medical aid was summoned, but the boy died before the doctor arrived. Heart failure was pronounced as tho cause of death. Young Malloy had never been strong. He had had a weak heart since he was a baby, but It was thought that he would outgrow It Although pale and slender from incessant illness, he waa tall and well built for a boy of his age. For several weeks Malloy was a member of the second team for the high school basketball squad and had been nracticine rncrularlv. The stren uous work in training had shown no effect upon him and the accident same as a keen surprise to the largo crowd that witnessed the game, as well as the coach and members of the school board. The sudden death of George Malloy breaks 'the lifelong companionship of twin brothers. John Malloy and George Malloy were born in Murray on May 2, 1899. They had been together to-gether all during their school classes, and it is said by members of the family fam-ily and friends of the boys that they were together at all times and showed wonderful brotherly love. nn |
