Show w DELEGATES WANTED BY GOVERNOR SPRY. Salt Lake, Jan. 13. Governor Spry has been requested to appoint ten delegates del-egates to the National Security congress, con-gress, in the interest of "preparedness," "prepared-ness," which will be held in Washington, Washing-ton, January 20 to 22. The state has no funds with which to send delegates to this meeting nor to the national child labor conference, to bo held in Asheville, N. C, February Febru-ary 3 to 6, and the National Drainage congress, to bo held In Cairo, 111., January Jan-uary 39 to 21. Calls for these meetings meet-ings and requests that delegates be appointed have also been received. Utah will have no official representatives repre-sentatives at these gatherings unless there are citizens who will attend at their own expense, or at least at some expense other than that of the statu itself. if there aro citizens interested 1 In the questions to be discussed by these meetings who plan to attend on their own initiative, the governor will oo glad to appoint them as delegates. In the call for this preparedness meeting, S SLonwood Menden, secretary secre-tary of the Security league, says: "There never was greater need In the history of the United States -for adequate preparednoss for national defense de-fense than there is today, nor have the Americon people ever been confronted con-fronted with a more vital issue. We want to Impress upon congress the necessity of providing complote security se-curity against attack." Utah is invited to have ten or mora delegates at the Security league meeting, meet-ing, five or more at the child labor conference and fifteen or more at tho drainage congress. nn |
