Show Society DONOVAN-SHU RTLIFF. Last Monday, August 23 In Salt Lake City occurred the marriage of Miss Jane Donovan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Donovan of this city and Ralph G. Shurtliff, also of Ogden. The bride has many friends in this city, having been employed for a number num-ber of years at the Palno & Hurst Dry Goods company. M9r. Shurtliff Is popular both In business and social circles, and an employe of tho Bell Telephone company. Mr. and Mrs. Shurtliff will make their homo in Ogden. Robert W. Spanglor, editor of tho "New West" magazine, and Mrs. Spangler aro enjoying an outing in Ogden canyon. The main purposo of the outing is to secure material for a story of the canyon to be used later In Mr Spangler's magazine, which is published in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Beringer and daughter, Jennie, have returned from a two weekB automobile tour of northern Utah and southern Idaho. Wednesday, September 1, the Lincoln Lin-coln Circle Ladies will give a lawn social at tho homo of Mrs. Craft on Fowler avenue. A short musical and literary program will bo given and refreshments re-freshments will bo served from 4 until un-til 8 o'clock. Tho Dick Slocum post Is given a special invitation to attend. at-tend. Miss Ada Mack, accompanied by Mrs. Francis Pitt of Brlgham City, has returned from a tour of California. Califor-nia. They visited both expositions. The Mlasos Tola Plngree and Ge-neta Ge-neta Lee have returned from Brlgham City whore they passed several weeks visiting with friends. MARTHA SOCIETY. Mrs. Gustav L. Becker will bo hostess host-ess to tho Martha society ladles at her home, "Gusthelka," in Ogden canyon, can-yon, Tuesday, September 7, at 3 o'clock, DANCING PARTY. Miss Vida Ecoles, Miss Llla Eccles and Miss Flora Eccles entertained at a dancing party Saturday evening at their homo in compjlmont to their houso guests, Miss Frances Brown of Chicago, MIbb Ella Hatch of Logan, Miss Mary Horn of Salt Lake and .Mrs, H. L. Bills and Mlsa Kathorlne, Ruby of Merced, Cal. The ballroom was decorated in goldenglow in baskets bas-kets and jardinieres. The lawn was lighted with Japanese lanterns and small tables were arranged on the lawn for refreshments. An orchestra orches-tra furnished music for dancing throughout the evening.
