Show IITOJ TEAM FAILS TO DEFEAT THE EMS One of the most important contests of the year in Utah amateur baseball circles was staged at Lagoon Saturday afternoon, when the Never r.ips of the Ogden City league defeated the Lay-ton Lay-ton team of the Davis county league. The defeat was ono of four sustained by the Layton boys during the present season and through It, the Never-Rips have a good claim to the state amateur ama-teur championship. A couple of weeks ago tho Layton players defeated the Stelffels team of Salt Lake Citv, biassed biass-ed as ono of the fastest aggregations In that district, and their defeat by the Ogden team came as a big surprise. sur-prise. The contest was sensational from start to finish, with the players of both teams straining every nerve tu win.
